June 6, 1861

Just this morning we took DC. There was lighter than expected resistance. What am I saying? There was almost no resistance. I don't htink anyone expected people to just assault the capitol.

We just walked in like we owned the joint. The only resistance was once we got to the White House and Capitol Building, and even then it we only had to fire a few shots as a show of force.

Right now, I'm sitting in the oval office in the President's chair, with my feet on his desk! Speaking of which, he's still alive. As a matter of fact, he's in this very office; my rifle's pointing at him, as are the guns of another man.

Taking the city was one thing, now we have to hold it. It is to be expected that a message got out and that federal troops will be marching on this position. It ain't gonna be easy, but I'm confident we can hold DC until reinforcements arrive in a few days.

I'm issuiing standing orders for our occupation:

No looting or scrounging for now

Set up LMG(C-1 rifle+tripod) nests along all roads approaching the WH.


All men are to bunk in the WH and headquarters shall be set up here.

All telegraph lines are to be cut.


In a week or so, we can expect some company...
